Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has asked Ghanaians to forgive the party for its mistakes while in government. He promised that if given another chance, the NPP would perform better.

‎Speaking at Goaso during the party’s Thank You Tour on April 28, 2025, Dr. Bawumia said the NPP had learned important lessons from its time in power. He assured supporters that the party was committed to doing things differently in the future.

‎“We recognise that we have made mistakes along the way, and we sincerely ask for your forgiveness,” he said to a large crowd.

‎Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of accountability and said the tour was not just to celebrate but also to reflect. He thanked Ghanaians for their support over the years and promised to rebuild trust.

‎“We have listened to your concerns, and we are determined to chart a new path forward together,” he added.

‎Highlighting the NPP’s achievements in digitalisation, infrastructure, and stabilising the economy, Dr. Bawumia said the party had made progress despite challenges. He admitted that there were failures but insisted the party would not make excuses.

‎“We pledge to correct our lapses and to deliver even better governance in the future,” he stated.

‎He called for unity among NPP members and asked Ghanaians to believe in the party’s vision for the country. Dr. Bawumia said the 2024 election would be a key moment for Ghana’s democracy and urged the public to move forward together with a new sense of purpose.

‎“We owe it to every Ghanaian to serve with humility, dedication, and an unrelenting commitment to progress,” he concluded.
