Ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries, a significant bloc of the party’s parliamentary representation, sixty-three out of eighty-seven Members of Parliament, has thrown its full support behind former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Announcing their decision at a media briefing in Accra, the Member of Parliament for Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, said Dr. Bawumia is the most experienced and viable choice to lead the party in the 2028 general election. The MPs lauded Bawumia’s resilience, discipline, and readiness to work as the key reasons for their endorsement.
“Today, over 63 Members of Parliament out of the 87 Minority Members in Parliament stand together in unity and conviction to make this clarion call. We declare our total and unwavering support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as our next flagbearer of our great party. We make this declaration not out of sentiment but of deep conviction. We have seen his work, his discipline, resilience, and readiness to serve. We believe that Dr. Bawumia embodies the next chapter of the NPP’s future — a future built on competence, innovation, and hope,” Mr. Ampratwum-Sarpong stated.
“We affirm that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not just the candidate who can unite our party but a leader who can win the confidence of the Ghanaian people and secure victory for the NPP in 2028 and beyond. He stands as a symbol of renewal, bridging generations, breaking barriers, and inspiring the belief that Ghana’s best days are yet to come,” he added.
