The Vice President of Ghana and one of the four Presidential Aspirants on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has received a full endorsement from his Party members in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region as hundreds of delegates have converged at the Three Town Senior High School to show him love following his proposal to appoint 10 people from constituency and 20 people from each Region when he wins power.
Dr. Bawumia made this promise and others to avert what he described as seemingly disunity between the Government and the Party membership.
According to him, “If by the Grace of God, you elected me as the flagbearer of the NPP, what is it that I am bringing to help you? When you look at our party, you notice that the biggest problem in the party is, there is no unity between the Government and the party- when we vote and elect into the government, the Government forgets the party”.
In line with the above challenges he has identified as the Vice, he promised to appoint more Party members into office to close the gap between the Government under him and the party.
On that score, he pledged to appoint 10 people from each constituency and appoint 20 people from each Region in addition to other general appointments at the national level- “I propose that we should take some of these 7,000 appointments and allocate them directly to the Constituencies and Regions that will help us”.
He also promised to set up a welfare office for the party executives.
The over one thousand Auditorium capacity was fully occurred by the delegates, mainly drawn from the polling stations, Wards, and Constituency including Patrons of the party, totaling about One Thousand Five Hundred (1,500) people were singing and dancing with the promise to vote for him, come November, 4.
Dr. Bawumia in his address claimed to be the best candidate to face John Mahama as he reiterated the fact that, he has done it in the past for victory and he will do it again because “breaking the 8 is possible with me”.
Dr. Bawumia was welcomed and received by the MCE for the Area, Maxwell Lugudor, the former MCE, Eliot Edem Agbenorwu, immediate past Constituency Chairman, Petit Haligah, and other Regional and Constituency Executives.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by both former and current National Director of Communication: Nana Akomea and Richard Ahiagba respectively. Also on the team are Anthony Karbo, Makafui Wornya Volta NPP Regional Chairman Pope Yevu, The Regional Secretary of NPP among others.
The Vice concluded the Volta Regional tour on 17th September, after meeting the delegates in separate locations: Keta, Denu , and Dzodze in Keta, Ketu South, and North Constituencies
