Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says government will ensure that every citizen benefits from the natural resources of the country.

It is in this regard that a number of social interventions are either being introduced or expanded to cover a lot more Ghanaians.

More of such social services are in the offing to ease the difficulties of the people.

Vice President Bawumia gave the assurance when he joined Muslims for prayers in Kumasi and Ejisu in the Ashanti region.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is on a 16-region tour of the country to mark this year’s Ramadan Fast with fellow Muslims in their mosques.

The tour is timed to coincide with the prayer sessions of the Muslims to enable the Vice President to also observe the mandatory prayers at the Mosques. Ashanti region is the fourth region that he visited.

He first joined Ahmadis at their Central Mosque at Asafo in Kumasi where he participated in the Zuhr prayers at 1pm. The prayers were led by the Ashanti Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Abdul Hameed Tahir.

In a remark, Maulvi Abdul Hameed Tahir described Ghana as the most peaceful nation in Africa and called for concerted effort to maintain that accolade.

Vice President Bawumia presented to the Missionary for distribution among the Muslim faithful, 25 bags of rice and 20 bags of sugar as well as cash. The Vice President pledged to support the MP for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi to build additional classroom blocks to accommodate the increasing pupils at the T.I. Ahmadiyya Basic School ‘A’ at Asafo. He promised also to provide the T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School in Kumasi with a new bus when the new academic year begins in September in fulfilment of an earlier pledge by his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia.

At Ejisu, Vice President Bawumia and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene, Nana Afrane Okese at his palace.

He later joined orthodox Islamic worshippers at their mosque for the Asr prayers.

On behalf of the Municipal Chief Iman, the Ejisu Constituency Nasara Coordinator of the NPP, Kamal-Deen Ibrahim, appealed to the government to help the local mosque to rebuild the local English and Arabic basic school and also construct an Arabic Senior High Technical School in the municipality to encourage formal education of muslim children in the area.

Vice President Bawumia told the Muslims that very soon dwellers in zongo communities will experience visible changes in the zongo and inner cities in accordance with the objective for the setting up the Zongos and Inner Cities Ministry as well as the Zongo Development Fund.

Dr. Bawumia said government has, within the past two years, employed 350,000 youth into the public sector mainly in the educational, health and agriculture sectors. Government is also expanding the coverage of existing and also introducing new social interventions to enable more citizens to benefit from the natural resources of the country.

The Vice President broke his fast for the day with Muslims at Konongo where he joined them for the Iftar or Magrib sunset prayers.
