Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has attributed the depreciation of the Ghana cedi to emerging market pressure.

Speaking at a Town Hall meeting in Accra, the Vice President said government has however taken prudent measures to reverse the downward spiral of the cedi.

Vice President Bawumia said prudence in fiscal management has seen the country record primary balance surpluses for two consecutive years.

He said a positive primary balance will reduce debt accumulation of the country.

The Vice President said a major challenge of government is making fair and equitable distribution for vulnerable groups in society.
