Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has criticised government for allegedly using the 2025 mini-budget to pressure the Minority into supporting its proposals.
His remarks came after the Finance Minister failed to present the mini-budget to Parliament as planned. This has caused significant concern among Members of Parliament, with some accusing the government of neglecting its fiscal responsibilities during this critical transitional period.
Speaking on Citi FM, Dr. Apaak described the government’s actions as unacceptable and manipulative, urging them to focus on national interests.
“This is not how governance should be conducted,” he said. “It seems the NPP believes it can use what Ghanaians expect us to do for the nation as leverage to get us to approve proposals like tax exemptions. This is wrong.”
Dr. Apaak also expressed frustration over the Finance Minister’s repeated absence in Parliament. “For four days now, we’ve been waiting for the minister to simply show up and fulfill his duty,” he said.
The Minority is calling for accountability and a focus on issues that benefit the nation rather than political manoeuvring.
