The decision by Hajia Amina Adam to contest the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat was largely influenced by appeals from residents and party supporters, according to her spokesperson, Mohammad Bashiri Zadeh.

Speaking after Hajia Amina Adam filed her nomination at the Greater Accra Regional Headquarters of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Zadeh said her entry into the race followed sustained encouragement from constituents who believe she can continue the work initiated by her late husband, Mahama Naser Toure.

He noted that the calls came from various sections of the constituency, including party faithful and community members, who urged her to step forward during the transition period following the MP’s death.

According to him, her decision reflects a sense of duty to the people of Ayawaso East rather than personal ambition.

Hajia Amina Adam is among five aspirants who have officially filed to contest the NDC parliamentary primary. The filing process forms part of preparations for the March 3 by-election, which was triggered by the vacancy created after the death of the sitting MP.

Supporters of Hajia Amina Adam were present during the filing exercise, expressing optimism about her candidacy as the party prepares for vetting and eventual selection of a flagbearer.
