Ghana’s housing deficit has been attributed mainly to the absence of a housing strategy targeting low income earners.
Currently, Ghana is faced with a housing deficit of two million, despite the numerous uncompleted housing projects dotted nationwide.
Speaking on GBC’s ‘Talking Point’, an Urban Planner, Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, Kofi Kekeli Amedzro said Ghana has failed to draw a comprehensive housing policy strategy to deal holistically with the country’s housing challenges.
Chairman of the Civil Technical Division of the Institute of Engineering Joseph Oddei, said procurement processes should be scrutinised so that successive governments do not abandon projects which have been started by previous administrations.
