A Governance Expert, Dr. Oduro Osae has bemoaned the situation where the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) is targeted and abused.
He said the Chairperson is part of a group of commissioners of the EC hence any issue should be channeled to the commission and not the Chairperson.
“People are attacking the chairperson of the Commission unnecessarily. In my view, the function has been given to a commission as a group, not the chairperson. The personality of the Chairperson is different from the commission. The Commission is the state institution so if we have issues we have to deal with the commission and not the chairperson of the commission” he said
He called on the EC to intensify dialogue with the political parties as a way of bringing an end to the matter.
