The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as more than a political strategist, hailing him as a fearless leader, a fighter for democracy, and a compassionate servant of the people.

‎In a tribute, the party recalled his early days as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), where he demonstrated courage, intelligence, and an unshakable commitment to justice. They highlighted his bold challenge to the then-government’s decision to withhold GETFund payments, a fight he pursued despite political hostility.

‎The NDC praised his activism in the Committee for Joint Action (CJA), where he worked with Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Bernard Mornah to amplify the voices of ordinary citizens. He was also among the young activists who personally monitored ballot printing during elections to protect the sanctity of the vote.

‎Dr. Boamah served Ghana in several high-profile roles — as Deputy Minister for Environment, Science and Technology from 2009 to 2012, Minister for Communication and Presidential Spokesperson from 2013 to 2016, and later as Minister for Defence until his tragic death on August 6, 2025.

‎As the NDC’s Director of Elections, he brought unmatched energy and precision to campaign organisation, polling agent training, and election monitoring, ensuring the party was well-prepared at every stage.

‎The party described him as brilliant, strategic, and fearless, but also as a man of empathy and generosity. “His rare blend of intellect, compassion, and resilience made him a treasure to our party and the nation,” the statement said.
