The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Council, led by its Chairperson, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed solidarity with the families affected by the tragic military helicopter crash in Sikaman, located in the Adansi Akrofuom area.

In response to the incident, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang convened and chaired an emergency meeting of the Armed Forces Council on Friday to address the ongoing developments surrounding the crash and to deliberate on other urgent matters concerning the Armed Forces.

Following the meeting, the Council, accompanied by other government officials, visited the home of the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah—one of the victims of the crash—to express condolences and offer support to the grieving family.

The Council extended its heartfelt sympathies to all the bereaved families, acknowledging the national pain and loss caused by the tragedy.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for strength, comfort, and peace during this period of national mourning,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated.

The Ghana Armed Forces Council also assured the nation of its commitment to continuing its vital work, even as it mourns the loss of these esteemed individuals.

The Sikaman helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of several military officers and government officials, has plunged the nation into grief, prompting messages of condolence and solidarity from across the political and social spectrum.
