The Bono Regional Director of Research and Elections, Henry Osei (Karikari), has officially declared his intention to contest the Bono Regional Treasurer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pledging to help steer the party back to electoral victory in 2028.
In a statement issued after what he described as extensive consultations with key stakeholders and grassroots members across the region, Osei said his decision reflects both a sense of duty and a readiness to serve at a critical moment for the party.
“I am driven by a lifelong commitment to the great NPP tradition and a proven track record of sacrifice, humility, and unwavering defence of vulnerable party members,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Osei underscored the importance of unity in rebuilding the party’s fortunes, acknowledging recent challenges while calling for renewed cohesion among members.
“My intention is to help the party rebound to victory in 2028,” he said. “I strongly believe that success comes through teamwork and collective effort. We must come together again and do everything within our means to return the party to government.”
His comments reflect a candid recognition of internal setbacks, coupled with a forward-looking message aimed at energising the party’s base.
Osei emphasised that the treasury portfolio will be pivotal to the NPP’s recovery strategy, particularly in mobilising the financial resources required to mount a competitive campaign.
“I feel strongly that my services are most needed at the treasury department to help mobilise resources for the party’s comeback,” he explained. “That is the core motivation behind my decision to contest.”
Drawing on his experience as Regional Director of Research and Elections, he noted that his role has afforded him a deeper understanding of the needs of grassroots supporters and the expectations of stakeholders who form the backbone of the party.
Outlining his vision for the position, Osei pledged to prioritise transparency, prudent financial management, and innovation in the handling of party resources.
“I will bring transparency, prudent management, financial innovation, and collaboration to the treasury to ensure the party is well-resourced to embark on an effective campaign and secure victory in 2028 and beyond,” he affirmed.
As internal contest builds within the Bono Region, Osei’s bid is expected to add momentum to the race for a position widely regarded as central to the party’s rebuilding efforts and long-term electoral strategy.
