Limited voter registration: EC gives prospective voters day’s lifeline

The Electoral Commission (EC) has given more than six thousand prospective new voters a day’s lifeline, after the official deadline for the exercise to register in the limited Voters Registration Exercise in the Ashanti Region.

The exercise which began on 17th June ended on July 7. It was meant to register eligible Ghanaians who had just turned 18 years or older but could not register for various reasons.

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Ashanti Regional Director of the EC, Benjamin Bannor Bioh, said as at the end of last Saturday, 190,872 new applicants had been registered.
