Former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to elevate Koforidua to metropolitan status and also rehabilitate the Koforidua market to boost economic activities when voted for.

He was addressing party supporters at a mini rally at the Koforidua Accra lorry station as part of his tour of the Eastern Region.

He was worried about the state of roads in the region and promised to prioritise that when he wins power. Mr Mahama spoke about the special agroprocessing zones policy of the NDC which is to be established at all regional capitals meant to address unemployment.

Earlier at Kyebi, Mr Mahama criticised the NPP government for destabilising the economy, thereby bringing hardship into the country. Likening the hardship to punishment, he noted that it should serve as a lesson for Ghanaians to properly interrogate promises before making decisions.

Mr Mahama urged the people to correct the mistake they made in the last eight years and vote for change by sending the elephant back to the bush.

At a similar mini-rally at Suhum, Mr Mahama called on the people to change their voting pattern and vote for the NDC to bring development in the area. He advised against skirt and blouse voting, urging that he needed the NDC Parliamentary candidates to help him develop the country.
