A newly registered political party called Power Unity Party, (PUP) has launched a media campaign to take part in the upcoming 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

PUP which received its certificates from the Electoral Commission, (EC), on November 21, 2019, as a recognized political organization in accordance with article 55 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana promised to make security as its topmost priority when given the opportunity.

Speaking at the news conference in Accra, the Founder and The Leader of The Party, Eliyahu Boateng said, “as a democratic party, PUP’s topmost priority is providing absolute security and protection to every Ghanaian regardless of faith, tribe and political affiliation, stressing that, “maximum security will be the bedrock of PUP government”.

According to him, since 1894, when the Ghana Police Service was established, the institution has managed to provide security by fulfilling their responsibilities as enshrined in the Ghanaian constitution.

Prophet Boateng stated that, his Government will empower the Police service to fulfill their responsibilities, efficiently and effectively without any interferences.

He wanted to do by providing the necessary logistics and periodic training both locally and international, “example the provision of helicopters for surveillance, bullet-proof vehicles for patrols, buliet-proof jackets, sophisticated weapons and any other Hi-tech devices that will aid in combating crimes of any sort”.

He said, when PUP comes to government, it will ensure the stability of the educational system when voted into power as he lamented that, “over the years, Ghana’s Education system and curriculum has being unstable and insecure.

This is because politicians have va ried the system of education for their selfish interest. Our earlier system of education starts from nursery, kindergarten, primary, middle school, sixth form to University but the system have changed and this has affected quality of instruction, performance and lack of facilities and teachers welfare”.

The Party has supported the ongoing free SHS policy, but it has added that,  “when PUP comes to power 2020, it will further enhance the policy by way of providing more

schools, quality education, accessibility, textbooks and other learning materials”.
