Voting has commenced across the country as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds its presidential primary to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Polling centres opened early Saturday morning in several constituencies, including Odododiodioo, Adentan, Madina, Ablekuma South and North, Weija-Gbawe, Dome Kwabenya, Okaikwei Central, Ayawaso North, Teshie, Bimbilla, Sunyani East, and Effia in the Western Region, with delegates beginning to cast their ballots shortly after 7:00 a.m.
At the Jamestown Police Station in Odododiodioo, 1,314 delegates are voting, while 1,482 delegates are participating at two polling stations in Ablekuma North. At Maranatha University College, 1,465 delegates are voting, and 501 delegates are expected at Effia, where a strong police presence has been deployed to maintain order.
Nationwide, 211,849 delegates are expected to take part at more than 300 polling centres. The five aspirants contesting the race are former Vice Presiden,t Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; businessman, Kennedy Agyapong;, former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; former Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Bryan Acheampong; and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

Security personnel have been deployed across the country to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible voting process. Party leaders have urged delegates to conduct themselves responsibly, respect the outcome, and emphasise the importance of unity within the party after the primary.
Voting is scheduled to continue until later today, after which ballots will be counted and results announced.
