Pastor allegedly threatening EC chair remanded to reappear June 23

A Circuit Court in Accra presided over by Emmanuel Essandoh has remanded 56-year-old Apostle Kwabena Owusu Adjei into police custody.

Apostle Adjei who was arraigned in court Tuesday pleaded not guilty to three charges to wit; threats of death, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and possession of narcotics contrary to section 2 (1) of the PNDC Law 236/90. He was remanded to reappear on June 23.

Detective Sergeant  Frederick Sarpong is the prosecuting officer in this case. The self-styled prophet who was arrested by the National Security for threatening President Akufo-Addo and the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa allegedly had Indian hemp popularly known as ‘weed’ in his possession.

Viral videos circulating on social media minutes after his arrest revealed that the 56-year-old “man of God” had in his possession, quantities of ‘Indian Hemp’ (weed) when he was picked up at his residence near the Greda Estates on the Spintex Road in Accra.

The Preacher was picked up by plain cloth security during a live interview on an Accra-based radio station.

The preacher in the said video which went viral on social media was heard raining curses on the EC Chairperson , over plans to compile a new voter’s register.
