The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Patrick Adusei Sarpong, has denied claims that the East Legon District Police Commander DSP George Asare was sidelined during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

DSP Asare had earlier told the Justice Emile Short commission probing the violence that characterised the by-election that the Regional Commander had asked him to step aside and his official pick- up taken away from him on the day of the election. But in a new twist, the regional commander has expressed surprise at the district commander’s claims.

According to DCOP Adusei Sarpong, he personally sent a whatsapp message to the District commander asking him to report at the regional headquarters in the morning of the election to be assigned to lead a patrol team but he failed to turn up.
