President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the newly established Constitution Day is a day to celebrate the longest, undisturbed period of stable, constitutional rule in the history of Ghana, and acknowledge the collective efforts achieved in upholding the tenets of democracy, the rule of law and the principles of constitutionalism.
The Constitution Day is in recognition of the commencement of the 4th Republican constitutional dispensation on January 7, 1993.
It is also to acknowledge the country’s collective efforts at ensuring that the tenets of democracy, rule of law and principles of constitutionalism are upheld.
The maiden Constitution Day was marked with a public lecture delivered by the Rector of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, (GIMPA), Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson, at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
It was on the topic “Constitutionalism in Ghana’s Fourth Republic: Towards Functional Performance”.
In a tweeted message, President Akufo-Addo wishes Ghanaians a Happy Constitution Day.
