Security Analyst and Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Security and Counterterrorism, Emmanuel Kotin, has expressed his disagreement with the Interior Minister, Muntaka-Mohammed’s statement regarding future recruitment processes going fully digital after the death of six ladies at the El-Wak Sports Stadium stampede on the day of the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.
According to Mr. Kotin, he does not see how legitimate the digital system works and questions the reason the process has been suspended till Monday because they want the whole process digitalized.
“What processes went into this thinking? What consultations were done?”
Speaking on GBC’s Current Agenda show on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the security analyst said the military hierarchy has asked some people in charge of the Accra recruitment to step aside, but according to him, stepping aside is not the way to go; there have to be consequences.
“We are talking about fatalities here. We cannot continue to record needless deaths with no deterrent measures.
He reasoned that it was about time the country started to put processes in place to make it deterrent enough.
“We don’t need to be having knee-jerk reactions to serious national issues like this,” he lamented.
Mr. Kotin also questioned the country’s idea of punctuality because he didn’t see why applicants would be disqualified if they arrive early.
“I heard that if you are supposed to come in the afternoon and you come in the morning, you will be disqualified. In security, we talk about punctuality. What are we communicating?”, he asked.
His comments follow the death of six job seekers, with several others injured in a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium during the Ghana Armed Forces’ 2025/2026 recruitment exercise, where thousands of applicants rushed for documentation and body screening.
