A 38-year-old tutor of Sefwi Wiawso Senior High Technical School, Alfred Adiyiah, was yesterday (January 24) elected as a Presiding Member of the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Assembly, after its inauguration.

He polled 100% votes from all the 46 Assembly members present at the inaugural ceremony.

The Western North Regional Minister, Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, who inaugurated the Assembly, urged both the elected and appointed members to bring their expertise to bear to enhance rapid development in the Municipality.

He charged them to explore avenues of creating jobs for the youth to address the challenge of joblessness on the burden of the Central Government while being diligent, responsive and accountable to their people.

Mr Aboagye-Gyedu urged them to ensure that government policies are delivered. He said they should also come out with innovative ideas to help improve the Assembly’s internally generated fund.

The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Chief Executive, Louis Owusu Agyapong, entreated them to do away with partisan differences and work harmoniously towards the development of the area.

He expressed his readiness to work with them for the upliftment of the Municipality.

The Assembly members comprising 31 elected and 16 government appointees, were sworn into office by the Sefwi Wiawso Court’s Magistrate, Lawrence Buer.
