Calls for a Presidential Debate between Flagbearers of the Political Parties have intensified as the country gets ready for the General Election in December.

The calls have become necessary as the COVID-19 restrictions continue to prevent large gatherings, which means Political Parties cannot hold rallies.

However, it appears the calls for a Presidential Debate has been limited to the two major Political Parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP).

GBC’s Radio Ghana sought the views of some smaller political parties on whether they will be ready and willing to join in a debate.

The parties say they are ready to debate the NDC and NPP when called upon.

National Secretary of the Progrssive People’s Party (PPP),  Paa  Kow  Ackon  told Radio Ghana’s Nathaniel Nartey that his party came out tops in previous Presidential Debates, hence leaving them out of any debate will be unthinkable.

For the Founder and Leader of All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, Presidential Candidates should not be allowed to use Manifestoes or any device like tables during the debates.

He said such foreign materials should be disallowed.
