The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it stands by its claim that there is no need for a new voters register insisting that the current Biometric Voters Register remains the most credible since the country returned to constitutional rule in 1992.
Addressing the media at the party’s 7th edition of the ‘Moment of Truth Forum’ in Kumasi, the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, dispelled arguments that the current Voters Register is bloated.
Responding to calls for calm among all parties in the ongoing debate over the compilation of the new Voters Register, Mr Asiedu Nketiah said even though the party has not received any official invitation to participate in a discussion on the way forward, it is ready to honour any such call.
The National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, explained that on Tuesday, January 21, the party will embark on the 2nd in the series of the ‘Y3mpini’ Demonstrations in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi.
Mr. Gyamfi emphasized that the demonstrations will not stop until an amicable solution has been reached on the debate over the intended new Voters Register.
