The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finally launched its manifesto in the Central Regional capital, Cape Coast.

The manifesto is dubbed “Leadership of Service; Protecting our progress and Transforming Ghana for all”.

The Manifesto Committee, according to Vice President Bawumia, was constituted by a 12-member team, with oversight responsibility by the President.

The document is segmented into three areas.

The first part looks at the party’s account of its leadership of the Country while the second part deals with how the party has consolidated its progress with the third part focusing on acceleration of growth.

The Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who touched on the structure of the manifesto stressed that the country was in a mess when the NPP took over but has been able to deliver 80 percent of its promises to put the economy back on track.

Dr. Bawumia declared that the NPP promised to fix the economy when it assumes power and that is exactly what it has done.

Dr. Bawumia announced government’s intention to set up a National Rental Assistance Scheme to help address the high cost of renting houses in the country.

The scheme is expected to create a platform where workers in the formal sector will be given loans to rent houses and pay monthly deductibles at a lower rate into the revolving Scheme.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia added that a hundred million Ghana Cedis has been earmarked for this scheme.

Vice President Bawumia also indicated that government incollaboration with other partners will build low income houses since not everyone can afford the affordable houses being constructed.

Vice President Bawumia in the manifesto pledged government’s intention to build sixteen model Senior High Schools in Zongo Communities of the 16 regions of the country.

Meanwhile, Cape Coast will soon see the construction of a new harbour and an Airport as part of efforts to address the travel time from the capital to the Central region.

Vice President Bawumia said with the huge tourist sites in the Central region, the new infrastructure will speed up development of the Central region.
