The Vigilante and Related Offences Act, 2019, has been translated into Twi and Hausa by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development, CDD-GHANA.
This is to aid easy reading and understanding of the provisions in the Act.
The Leader of Security Sector Governance for CDD-Ghana, Nana Kwabena Aborampah made this known at a two-day workshop in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Nana Kwabena Aborampah said recent researches conducted have identified the political parties youth wings as lead actors in political violence and that is the reason why the vigilantism act has been translated for easy understanding .
This will also help the youth to shun violence.
Nana KwabenaAborampah was not happy that political parties youth wings were excluded in the consultation processes leading to the drafting of the vigilantism act.
The workshop brought together political parties, youth leaders and youth wings in the three selected constituencies of the Ashanti Region.
The constituencies which include Asutifi north, Asawase and Denkyembourwere identified as hot spots during the electioneering.
