Prime Suspect of Dess FM Killer Arrested

The prime suspect in the murder of a newscaster of a Bekwai-based private radio station, DESS FM Portia Agyeiwaa Kodie has been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The suspect, Philip Akumaning aged 36, also known as Atta Panin was arrested at Juansa near Konongo in Ashanti over the weekend where he was attending a funeral.
Briefing the media in Kumasi, the Deputy Regional Police Commander, DCOP Fred Adu Anim said the suspect was arrested upon a tip-off.
He said during his arrest, Akumaning led the police to his Assin-Fosu base in the Central Region where the knife he allegedly used to commit the murder was retrieved.

Late Portia Ama Agyeiwaa Kodie

In April, Portia Ama Agyeiwaa Kodie, a single mother, was found in a pool of blood in her room at, Green Annex, at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region.
She was rushed to the Bekwai Government Hospital,  where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Preliminary police investigations revealed Portia was stabbed in the chest, thigh and left arm with a sharp object believed to be a knife.
A Bekwai Magistrate Court issued a warrant for arrest of the suspect, a carpenter, after police leads pointed to him.
