Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi faces an impending rape trial following allegations from a woman who allegedly claims he assaulted her at his Paris home in 2023.
The 24-year-old accuser filed the complaint, which Hakimi, vehemently denies.
A preliminary investigation by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office launched in March 2023 has now advanced to trial, though no date is set.
Hakimi vented his frustration on X, declaring, “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial. This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims.” He expressed calm confidence, adding that the proceedings will reveal the truth publicly.
His lawyer echoed this resolve in a statement, confirming a trial has been ordered and vowing to fight for justice.
Born in Spain to Moroccan parents, the 27-year-old has shone brightly for PSG, amassing 194 appearances and securing Ligue 1 and Champions League titles last season.
His stellar form earned him a spot on the FIFPro Men’s World 11 at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Paris, underscoring his elite status amid the turmoil.
The case casts a shadow over Hakimi’s glittering career, where his speed and versatility have made him a defensive cornerstone for club and country.
While Hakimi maintains his innocence, the saga highlights tensions in high-profile accusations within sports.
