The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has commended Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Iddie Adams for donating two months of his salary to the National Sports Fund, hailing it as a powerful act of leadership.
This donation comes at a critical time when the fund aims to bolster infrastructure, athlete training, and grassroots programs across the country.
SWAG also extended applause to its own member, Dickson Kyere Dua, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, alongside other patriotic MPs who have contributed to the fund.
Their timely donations underscore a growing parliamentary resolve to prioritize sports development amid economic challenges.
According to SWAG, these contributions highlight true patriotism and a shared vision for Ghana’s sporting future.
The association views the moves as inspirational, potentially sparking wider involvement from public figures and encouraging sustained investment in talents who represent the Black Stars and other national teams on global stages.
In a direct call to action, SWAG has urged Corporate Ghana and key institutions to rally behind the National Sports Fund.
This push aligns with ongoing efforts to revive Ghana’s sports sector post-AFCON and ahead of future international tournaments.
The National Sports Fund, established to address funding gaps in sports administration and development, has gained momentum through such high-profile endorsements.
SWAG’s commendation signals optimism for increased private sector engagement, which could transform Ghana’s competitiveness in football, athletics and beyond.
