The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has provided fresh updates on its ongoing investigation into the controversial contract awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
According to the OSP, preliminary findings indicate that “there was no genuine need for contracting SML for the obligation it was purported to perform.” The statement raises serious concerns about the transparency and justification surrounding the deal, which has attracted widespread public scrutiny.
The Special Prosecutor reaffirmed that the investigation is still active, with further inquiries being made into possible breaches of procurement laws, conflict of interest, and financial irregularities linked to the contract.
In the same briefing, the OSP also addressed developments regarding the ongoing process to extradite former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, as part of a separate but related investigation. Officials assured the public that all legal procedures are being followed in collaboration with international partners to ensure accountability.
The OSP emphasized its commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and justice in all ongoing cases, urging the public to remain patient as the investigations unfold.
