Tottenham Hotspur want to convince Roberto de Zerbi to become their new permanent head coach as they pick up the pieces after the departure of Igor Tudor.
The club confirmed Tudor’s exit by mutual consent after just 44 days in charge, a period that ended in a dismal 3‑0 defeat to Nottingham Forest that left Spurs just one point above the relegation zone.
De Zerbi, who left Marseille earlier this season following a heavy loss to Paris Saint‑Germain and a run of poor results, is now Tottenham’s primary target. Ahead of the official announcement of Tudor’s sacking, Spurs tried to gauge the Italian’s interest in taking over the north‑London club.
Multiple sources have told BBC Sport that initial indications are De Zerbi is open to the role but would prefer to wait until the end of the season to see whether Tottenham remain in the Premier League before committing. This stance reflects his caution about stepping into a club at serious risk of relegation, even as Tottenham’s chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange are now in charge of appointing his successor.
Tottenham’s hierarchy must now decide whether to push hard to land the former Brighton boss immediately after Tudor’s departure or explore alternative options. With the club’s survival in the top flight hanging in the balance, Spurs’ courtship of De Zerbi could shape the next chapter of their turbulent season.
