The Network for Young Women Empowerment (NYWE) has condemned the incident of domestic violence that took place at Konta, a suburb of Wa in the Upper West Region, that led to the victim suffering from machete wounds and currently battling for her life in the hospital.

The condemnation relates to an incident where one Victus Sungsolee Kundeyiri is alleged to have attacked his 30-year-old wife, Amanda Abawuro Basinbo after a misunderstanding.

The Network condemned the act in a statement signed by the Chairperson, Ms. Ida T. Nakaar in Wa.

In the words of NYWE, “the act was barbaric and cruel.”

The Network added its voice to the calls on the need for us all to live peacefully in this trying period of COVID-19 by showing much love to another.

According to the Network, the covid-19 pandemic requires us to adhere to all the safety protocols that have been outlined by the Ministry of Health and the Government.

The situation demands of us to be each other’s keeper by making the home a safe place to live in and not for men to be beating their wives.

“This painful act inflicted on an innocent on an innocent woman is unfortunate and to the extreme,” NYWE opined. The statement said: “As a network, we urge the general public to be vigilant and report any kind of danger such as domestic violence, we are not in normal times and some people may pour their frustrations through violence. We encourage families to desist from silencing victims of domestic violence. We are also calling on the police to investigate the matter diligently.”

The Network concludes that it is confident that all the institutions are handling the matter will collaborate to deliver justice on time.
