AC Milan star Christian Pulisic, dubbed “Captain America,” stands as the USA’s talisman for the 2026 home World Cup. Despite early-2026 hamstring woes, the 27-year-old fresh off a stellar 2024-25 Serie A season with 17 goals and Supercoppa glory, eyes pivotal impact come June-July kickoff.
Now in his third Milan campaign, Pulisic defies the “selfish attacker” label. Scout Tiago Leal praises his dual-threat nous: “Problem solver with or without the ball, team-first work rate that’s incredible.” His 2022 World Cup heroics, clutch Iran winner to reach Round of 16, echo three straight CONCACAF Nations League triumphs (2021, 2023, 2024).
”He’s known for being Captain America, but he doesn’t like to be called Captain America. He doesn’t see himself like a superhero; he’s keeping a low profile and his feet on the ground, but that’s not the case. You are Captain America. I don’t care what you say. You are. If that’s more pressure on you, I don’t care. It’s his own fault. If you weren’t so good we wouldn’t ask anything from you.” Zlatan Ibrahimovic affirmed.
Pulisic thrives as a two-way dynamo, unlocking defenses on the ball and hounding opponents off it. Unlike the selfish stereotype haunting elite attackers who slack defensively and chase personal glory, he flips the script with relentless team ethic.
“Christian is a great player. We can say he is the most important player for the national team. He has to compete each week at Milan. We are so happy when he provides goals and assists” – Said Mauricio Pochettino (head of coach USMNT)
From Pennsylvania roots to San Siro mastery, Pulisic’s humility fuels fire. Injuries tested him, but form rebounds, 8 goals in 11 Serie A starts this term signal peak readiness.
