Kumasi Asante Kotoko has officially appointed Abdul Karim Zito as their permanent head coach, following his impressive stint as interim manager during the final months of the 2024-2025 season. His tenure saw immediate success, including winning the MTN FA Cup, prompting the Porcupine Warriors to hand him a two-year contract, confirming his leadership for the foreseeable future.
The announcement came late Sunday, July 20, via an official club statement, putting an end to speculation about Zito’s role after he succeeded Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum just two months before the season’s conclusion. The club expressed confidence in Zito’s ability to build on the recent trophies and lead Kotoko to more success.
During his brief but impactful time in charge, Karim Zito not only guided Kotoko to victory in the MTN FA Cup but also secured the President’s Cup title. The FA Cup triumph opens the door for Kotoko to represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup, elevating the club’s continental ambitions under Zito’s leadership.
Prior to joining Kotoko, Zito enjoyed commendable success with Dreams FC, leading them to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup and capturing an MTN FA Cup title, highlighting his capability to perform on big stages. His track record convinced Kotoko’s management that he was the right choice to take the club forward.
With preparations underway for Kotoko’s trip to South Africa to compete in the Toyota Cup against Kaizer Chiefs, the club appears confident that under Abdul Karim Zito’s steady guidance, the Porcupine Warriors can continue their winning ways both at home and on the African continent.
