Zambia’s Enock Mwepu announces heartbreaking exit from football

24 year Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, Enock Mwepu, has announced his retirement from playing football following the discovery and diagnosis of a hereditary heart condition.

According to reports, the Chipolopolo captain fell ill while on national team duties last month. He was hospitalised and, after initial tests, flew back to the UK for further checks.

In a statement released on his official Twitter handle:

Meanwhile, his teammates and fans have taken to social media to send love and light his way.
