Ghana has earned a place in the World Phygital Community (WPC) following its participation in the World Phygital Summit 2025 held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The summit brought together global leaders in the emerging field of phygital sports—a fusion of physical and digital gameplay—and provided Ghana with the opportunity to demonstrate its growing leadership in the sector.

The Ghana Esports Federation (GESF) confirmed that Ghana has been granted Gold Member status in the WPC, recognising the country’s commitment to innovation and development in esports and phygital competition. The announcement came shortly after the summit, where the federation was represented by its president, Mr Igor Boumekpo.

Mr Boumekpo’s involvement in high-level discussions and strategic planning sessions underscored Ghana’s dedication to shaping the future of phygital sports on the international stage.

The GESF described the recognition as a reflection of Ghana’s leadership and forward-thinking initiatives. It also extended appreciation to the wider esports community, government agencies, regional directors and institutional partners who contributed to the achievement.

The new status is expected to open doors for international collaboration, competition, and investment within Ghana’s growing esports ecosystem.

Looking ahead, the federation confirmed Ghana’s participation in the Games of the Future, a global phygital tournament scheduled for December 2025. The event will feature top athletes from around the world and provide Ghanaian players with a platform to showcase their talent on the international stage.
