The KGL Foundation served as the prime sponsor of this year’s Tema Farmers’ Day Tennis Tournament, an annual event organized by the Premier Tennis Club in Tema as part of its commitment to honouring Ghana’s farmers.

The tournament, which has been running for over five years, was held to mark the 41st National Farmers’ Day — a day dedicated to celebrating the nation’s hardworking farmers. Four clubs participated in this year’s competition: Premier Tennis Club (Tema), Koforidua Sports Club, Burma Camp Tennis Club, and Sakumono Tennis Club.

Public Relations Officer of the KGL Foundation, Edwin Osmond-Lamptey, explained that the Foundation’s involvement reflects its mission to create lasting impact within underserved communities and support sports development in Ghana.

“As a Foundation, we’re very interested in the upliftment of underserved Ghanaians in their communities, ensuring they have the capacity to exercise their full potential,” he said. “We have partnered with many private and government organisations to impact the lives of Ghanaians, and supporting initiatives like the Tema Farmers’ Day Tennis Tournament is one of those ways. We have been with them for the past four years, and we’ve seen how they infuse sports with community development. In the same vein, we also celebrate our farmers who nourish us by supporting such worthy events.”

Mr. Osmond-Lamptey also expressed high hopes for the future growth of the tournament.

“We hope to see this grow into a tournament like Wimbledon. We hope people will use this tournament as a stepping stone towards achieving greater things,” he added.

A member of the KGL Group, the KGL Foundation continues to contribute significantly to underserved communities across all 16 regions of the country through initiatives in prime healthcare, education, youth development, sports, and arts and culture.
