The Crested Cranes were housed in Group A alongside host Morocco, debutant Burkina Faso and returnees Senegal after qualifying against Ethiopia and getting a walk over Kenya.
The 2022 CECAFA Women’s champions lost their opener against 2020 WAFU A champions Senegal by 2-0. This was followed by a 3-1 thumping host and UNAF 2020 Women’s champions Morocco. Their journey ended with a 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso.
Their journey in the tournament was cut short after after amassing 1 point in 3 matches, scoring 3 and conceding 7.
The Crested Cranes of Uganda and Stallions of Burkina Faso have been booted out of the ongoing top flight women’s tournament in Morocco.
For their part, the stallions of Burkina Faso amid poor preparation and a number of player agitations days to the commencement of the tournament, Coach Sawadogo’s side started off on a good note though they lost 1-0 to host Morocco in the opening match. The Stallions once again were defeated 1-0 by Senegal before finally finding their scoring boots against Uganda.
Coach Sawadogo and his charges finished at the 3rd position in group A with a point and a deficit of 2 goals.
Morocco after winning all 3 matches finished top of Group A, the Terenga Lionesses of Senegal finished in second place and booking their spots in the quarter finals.
However, for the Crested Cranes and the Stallions it was the end of the road.
