Amid an avalanche of rumours surrounding the exclusion of their captain Barbara Banda from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Copper Queens of Zambia left it late to breathe a sigh of relief in injury time to record their first win in the tournament.
A game full of drama, was served hot at the Stade Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca. The first half was saw the Carthage Eagles working to break the Zambian defence but try as they may, Zambian goalkeeper Hazel Natasha Nali continuously kept them in the game with some great saves.

Tunisia were denied a possible penalty after what appeared as a handball but after a VAR review, no penalty was awarded.
After a penalty miss and a well-worked freekick ruled a no-goal, the Copper Queens dug deep and kept pushing until Avel Chitondou scored the winner in injury time.
