The Banyana Banyana of South Africa are the first team to qualify for the finals of the 2023 Total Energies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON Finals.

The 2018 finalists are unbeaten, having start their Morocco 2022 campaign against Nigeria, Botswana and Burundi in Group C.

The 3rd best African team defeated Nigeria 2-1 before running a 3-1 riot on Burundi before recording a slim 1-0 win against fellow COSAFA side Botswana.

Desiree Eliis and her squad were set for the quarter finals in a game against Tunisia where they won 1-0. Though without their star performer Christine Thembi Kgatlana.

The date was set for another COSAFA show down between Zambia and South Africa. The first 45 minutes provided only 3 shots on targets from both teams.

The Shepolopolo without their first goalkeeper Hazel Nali had to rely on services of 2nd goalkeeper Catherine Musonda.

A dramatic turn of event saw a late penalty call for South Africa after a tackle on Jermaine right on the 18 yard box.

Linda Motlaho scored from the spot in the dying moments of the game to hand a final ticket to the South Africans.
