Nukunu FC have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Mart ‘D’ Electricals Volta Regional Football Association Division Two League after securing a hard-fought victory over Yadzo Oti Warriors FC in the Middle League final.

The closely contested final was decided by a solitary goal, with Nukunu FC proving strength and composure to emerge victorious and complete an impressive campaign in their maiden appearance at the Regional Middle League.

The breakthrough came from the penalty spot after Nukunu were awarded a spot-kick in a tense encounter.

Although Yadzo Oti Warriors goalkeeper Richard Mawoekpor produced an initial save, Esinu Harry reacted quickest to the rebound, firing home the decisive goal to send Nukunu supporters into celebration.

Yadzo Oti Warriors responded strongly after falling behind and pressed forward in search of an equaliser.

However, their efforts were hampered after they were reduced to ten men during the second half, giving Nukunu a numerical advantage for the remainder of the match.

With an extra player on the field, Nukunu maintained their discipline and defensive organisation, frustrating every attempt by Yadzo Oti Warriors to get back into the contest.

Their backline stood firm until the final whistle, securing a memorable victory and the coveted Division Two Regional Middle League title.

The triumph marks a significant achievement for Nukunu FC, whose consistency and determination throughout the competition earned them deserved recognition as champions of the Volta Regional Middle League.

Despite the defeat, Yadzo Oti Warriors can take pride in a remarkable campaign that saw them reach the final and challenge strongly for the title.

Meanwhile, three outstanding performers were honoured at the conclusion of the tournament for their exceptional contributions during the competition.

Nukunu FC Goalkeeper, Teye Michael Awuley was named Best Goalkeeper after keeping three clean sheets in four matches.

His teammate, Junior Ayitey, emerged as the Top Scorer with three goals during the Middle League campaign.

Yadzo Oti Warriors midfielder Perfect Esetor was adjudged Player of the Tournament in recognition of his impressive performances and influence throughout the competition.

The awards reflect ongoing efforts by the Volta Football Association to promote and develop football talent across the Volta and Oti Regions, bringing the 2025/26 Division Two league season to a successful conclusion.

As celebrations erupted among players, officials and supporters, Nukunu FC capped off a historic campaign by lifting the Volta Division Two Regional League trophy and securing their place among the region’s elite clubs.
