Libyan football club El Ettihad Al Misraty have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Richmond Lamptey ahead of the new season. The 28-year-old, and former captain of Asante Kotoko, arrived in Tripoli on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 to finalize his move and complete the necessary paperwork before officially joining the North African side.
Lamptey joins El Ettihad Al Misraty following a successful period with Rwandan giants APR FC, where he played a key role in helping the club qualify for the CAF Champions League. The club announced Lamptey’s arrival alongside Zimbabwean defender Gerald Takwara, both set to boost the squad’s preparations for their upcoming campaign.
With a rich continental career behind him, Lamptey has previously featured for WAFA, Inter Allies, Asante Kotoko, and APR FC. His experience and leadership qualities are expected to make a significant impact on El Ettihad Al Misraty’s midfield as they look to strengthen their squad this season.
Upon leaving APR FC, Lamptey expressed heartfelt gratitude to the club and its supporters.
