- The event’s organising force, Sharaf Mahama, emphasised the strategic vision behind the evening: “We are determined to give our local boxers the global exposure they deserve,” he declared at Wednesday’s press conference.
Build-Up and Ceremony:
The press launch took place at Multichoice’s Achimota hub, drawing trainers, promoters, media, and national figures. A public weigh-in is scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. at Bukom Square Park.
Sharaf has also gained notable attention for coordinating a high-profile attendance of international and local dignitaries, including anticipated appearances from boxing greats and cultural icons, adding extra buzz to the event.
About the Venue:
The Bukom Boxing Arena, inaugurated in 2016 and seating 4,000 fans, is the country’s premier boxing facility. Located in a suburb famed for producing champions like Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey, it remains the de facto centre for Ghana’s pugilistic heritage.
