Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has advocated for a collaborative approach to tackling the challenges facing the Ghana Football Association (GFA). According to Adams, leadership in sports administration should focus on engagement and problem-solving rather than confrontation. This stance marks a potential shift in the dynamics between the Ministry and the GFA, which have been strained in the past due to power struggles and entrenched interests.

Adams emphasized the importance of distinguishing between problems and personalities in addressing the GFA’s challenges. “I don’t see individuals as the problem. I see challenges that need fixing. My priority is to work together to identify and solve those challenges”; he said.

While promoting collaboration, Adams also warned that individuals who hinder progress will be held accountable. “If you consistently stand in the way of resolving these issues, then you become part of the problem and at that point, you’ll be treated as such”; he affirmed.

Adams’ remarks come amid increasing demands for reform and greater accountability in Ghanaian sports, particularly in football governance. As the sports sector continues to face various challenges, the Minister’s emphasis on collaboration and problem-solving offers a potential way forward.
