The Ministry for Sports and Recreation has confirmed that a $1.12 million budget has been submitted for approval to fund the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
This budget proposal was prepared by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and is now awaiting final government approval.
At a media briefing in Accra, Kofi Adams revealed that the GFA submitted the budget estimates on September 18, which were forwarded to the Office of the President the following day for endorsement.
The budget allocation includes $733,000 for the away match in Casablanca against the Central African Republic on October 8 and $387,000 for the home fixture against Comoros scheduled for October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The budget covers essential expenses such as travel, accommodation, per diems, training facilities, officiating fees, match bonuses, and other support services necessary for the team’s preparation and performance.
Minister Adams emphasized that the figures align with previous fiscal agreements, clarifying that there have been no deviations or unexpected increases in costs.
Addressing rumors of political interference or delays in payments, the Minister firmly dismissed such claims. He assured that the players’ entitlements remain intact and praised the Ministry’s professionalism in managing these funds.
“The players are our priority, and we have treated them with respect and professionalism,” he stated. With these preparations underway, Ghana aims to boost its chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars need to secure four points from their two crucial matches—the away game against the Central African Republic and the home fixture versus Comoros—to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
