A National Executive Member of the Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council, GNCFC Joojo Solomon, has called for intensive monitoring of coastal areas, especially those bordering neighbouring countries, to prevent Ghanaian fishermen in other countries, from sneaking into the country.

Mr. Solomon said the Council has sent out a circular to all regional executives to step-up education in fishing communities since there is the potential for people to enter the country, using canoes.

President of the National Inland Canoe Fishermen Council, Jacob Kabore Ageke, also said communities along rivers and lakes have been sensitized to report foreigners who come into the country to fish.
