Ghanaian-American comedian Michael Blackson and his fiancée, Rada Darling, have welcomed their first child together, a baby boy affectionately named “Lil Mikey.”
The comedian shared a heartwarming video from the hospital delivery room on Instagram, capturing the emotional moment he saw his son for the first time. In the clip, Blackson is heard whispering in amazement before bursting into laughter after noticing that the baby shares the same birthmark as him.
Lightening the moment with humour, Blackson joked about his son’s lighter complexion before turning to Rada, still on the delivery bed, to plant a kiss and commend her for her strength during labour. “Happiest day of my life and no DNA needed lol,” he wrote in the caption.
This marks Blackson’s fourth child. He is already a father to Michael Jr., 26, and 17-year-old twins Niko and Noah from previous relationships. For Rada Darling, a real estate agent and TV personality who appeared alongside Blackson on VH1’s Couples Retreat, this is her first child.
The couple, who got engaged in July 2021 after Blackson proposed live on The Breakfast Club radio show, announced their pregnancy in February. At the time, Darling humorously dismissed speculation about a “food baby,” confirming it was, in fact, a real one. In May, the pair hosted a baby shower surrounded by family and friends, with Rada expressing her gratitude for the outpouring of support.
Known for his brash humour and unfiltered take on life and identity, Blackson, often dubbed “The African King of Comedy”, is currently on tour. However, fans were treated to a more tender side of the comedian as he embraced fatherhood once again.
In a second video from the hospital, Blackson playfully asked his newborn which path he would take in life, comedian or athlete, jokingly ruling out a career in American football. Social media was soon flooded with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities alike.
As Blackson holds Lil Mikey for the first time, his blend of humour and heart suggests that fatherhood will bring plenty of memorable moments to come.
