The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and his Deputy, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, have publicly filed their annual tax returns to promote voluntary compliance and strengthen public trust.
“We did so for a simple reason: leadership must be demonstrated, not declared,” Dr. Forson said.
He commended Ghanaian taxpayers for their contribution to national development and stressed that tax compliance is both a civic duty and a moral responsibility.
“Paying taxes is a shared civic responsibility. It is the foundation of good governance,” he noted, adding that revenue from taxes funds critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and security.
The Minister also praised the Ghana Revenue Authority for its efforts during Tax and Good Governance Month, urging intensified public education and continued reforms to ease compliance.
He encouraged those yet to file their returns to do so promptly, stressing that a strong tax culture is key to building a stable and prosperous Ghana.
