‎A Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has commended Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin for showing true leadership and protecting the balance among the three arms of government through his recent apology to the judiciary following the conduct of some members of appointment committee.

‎“The Speaker has shown leadership because he understands that the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary all have equal rights and must be accorded due respect,” he stated.

‎Speaking in an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday November 12, 2025, Dr. Boakye-Danquah said the Speaker’s decision to apologize on behalf of Parliament after the heated exchanges that occurred during the vetting of Chief Justice nominee, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, demonstrates respect for institutional harmony and democratic maturity.

‎He noted that the Speaker’s action reflects his understanding of the separation of powers between the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary emphasizing that all three arms of government deserve equal respect and cooperation to promote effective governance.

‎Dr. Boakye-Danquah, however, expressed disappointment in the conduct of the Minority in Parliament, saying they missed an opportunity to deepen public trust in the judiciary by walking out of the vetting process. According to him, although the Minority had a constitutional right to express their displeasure, they could have exercised restraint and allowed the process to continue.

‎He further urged Parliament to prioritize collaboration, cooperation, and continual engagement over political confrontation, stressing that democracy can only grow stronger when leaders work together despite differences.

‎Dr. Boakye-Danquah also warned that political actions that create division or undermine state institutions could harm Ghana’s democratic image internationally, as global investors and partners closely monitor developments in the country.
