The governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, has appointed Professor Christian Agyare as the next Vice Chancellor of the university. Prof. Agyare is presently the Provost of the College of Health Sciences of the KNUST and is a professor of Pharmaceutics.
The appointment follows the Council’s consideration of the Report of the Search Committee, chaired by a Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sir Denis Agyei.
At its 292nd Special Meeting held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Kumasi, the Council accepted the Search Committee’s Report which recommended Prof. Agyare as the most suitable applicant for the position of a Vice Chancellor.
In a statement signed and issued by the Registrar of the University, Benjamin Owusu, Prof. Agyare will assume his new role on 1st August, 2026 to become the 13th Vice Chancellor of the KNUST.
He will take over from Prof. Mrs. Rita Dickson, whose term ends on 31st July, 2026.
The new Vice Chancellor will serve a four year term ending 31st July, 2030.
