Colombian music star Shakira has announced that Uganda’s Ghetto Kids will perform alongside her during the halftime show at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
Shakira revealed the news in a video message to fans, where she explained that she wanted the performance to reflect different dance cultures and talents from around the world. She confirmed that the Ugandan dance group had officially been selected to join the show.
The global pop icon is expected to perform “Dai Dai,” the tournament’s official anthem, which features Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy.
Founded by Dauda Kavuma in Kampala, the Ghetto Kids have built an international reputation over the years through their energetic choreography and viral performances.
The group gained worldwide attention after appearing in French Montana’s “Unforgettable” music video and later performed during activities surrounding the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. They also reached the finals of Britain’s Got Talent.
The announcement further highlights the growing presence of African entertainers at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nigerian singer Rema and South African star Tyla are also expected to perform at the tournament’s opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 12, 2026.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at the MetLife Stadium, where Shakira is expected to co-headline the halftime show alongside Madonna and BTS.
